CiQUS has secured funding for 11 research projects under the latest Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento call launched by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The outcome will support the development of new research projects and strategic initiatives across key areas of chemistry and molecular sciences.
Together, the awarded projects represent almost €2.5 million in funding to be invested in new research activities over the coming years. Of the 11 funded projects, six also include associated predoctoral research contracts, a funding modality within the call designed to foster the training of the next generation of researchers.
The funded projects cover a broad range of research areas, including new therapeutic strategies against infectious diseases and cancer, supramolecular chemistry, functional materials for energy applications, sustainable catalysis, the design of novel molecular materials, and biomedical applications of nanotechnology and structural DNA. Together, they will strengthen existing research lines while enabling the development of new ones across the centre.
CiQUS is a research centre at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), accredited as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence and a member of the CIGUS Network, which brings together the Galician university research centres recognised for their scientific excellence. The centre receives funding from the European Union through the Galicia ERDF Programme 2021–2027, supporting the development of an excellent and competitive research ecosystem in Galicia.
