We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join the METBIOCAT group at CIQUS (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela) within the framework of the RuCSCMET - Proyectos de Prueba de Concepto 2025 (PDC2025-165103-I00).
The project focuses on the design and development of novel metal-based anticancer agents targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs), a small and rare population of tumor cells responsible for tumor progression, metastasis, and relapse. It builds on previous discoveries of a ruthenium complex with demonstrated cytostatic activity and a unique mechanism of action based on the inhibition of mitochondrial respiration in CSC. This research aims to overcome current limitations by rationally designing next-generation ruthenium-based complexes with enhanced efficacy and selectivity. Ultimately, the project addresses a major unmet clinical need and has the potential for high impact in translational cancer research and therapeutic innovation.

REQUIREMENTS
· PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline.
· Previous experience in inorganic and organometallic chemistry, spectroscopic and analytical techniques.
· Knowledge of basic molecular biology and biochemical skills will be highly recommended.
· Excellent communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English
